These terms govern your use of BenchRep GymTracker ("BenchRep"), a strength training app for iPhone and Android. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. Who publishes BenchRep

2. What the app does

BenchRep lets you:

log your workouts, set by set;
follow the built-in programs or create your own;
browse the exercise catalog and its demo videos;
track your stats, personal records and body weight;
get coach tips and weight suggestions, described below.

The app works without an account, a server or a connection: what you enter stays on your phone. Our privacy policy explains in detail what it stores and the one time it goes online.

3. Medical disclaimer

Important: BenchRep is a tool for tracking your training and for general information. It doesn't replace advice from a doctor or guidance from a qualified fitness professional.

Strength training carries a risk of injury. Before starting a training program, talk to a healthcare professional, especially if you have a health condition or an injury, or if you're getting back into exercise after a long break. If you feel pain, faintness or dizziness while training, stop and seek medical advice.

4. Coach tips and suggested weights

Coach tips (plateaus, muscle balance, weights) and the suggested weight for each exercise are calculated on your phone from your history and your profile, using fixed rules. No artificial intelligence is involved.

They're guidance only. They aren't medical advice or a program tailored to you by a professional, and they know nothing about your health. Adjust them to how you feel: if a weight seems too heavy, don't attempt it.

5. Purchase and refunds

BenchRep is a paid app: you buy it once, when you install it, on the App Store or Google Play. There's no subscription and no in-app purchase.

Payment is handled by Apple or Google, and refund requests follow their rules: see Apple's help or Google Play's help.

6. License

Your purchase gives you a limited, non-exclusive license to use the app, under the rules of the store you bought it from:

On iPhone, your use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
On Android, it's also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service.

These terms add to those agreements; they don't replace them.

7. Your data and backups

Everything you enter in BenchRep is stored only on your phone. We have no access to it, so we can't recover or restore your data, for example if you lose or reset your phone, or delete the app.

Backing up your data is therefore up to you. You can:

export your data from the app to a file, keep it somewhere safe, and import it back on the same phone or a new one;
let your phone's iCloud or Google backup include BenchRep's data.

8. Updates

BenchRep can be updated in two ways: through the App Store or Google Play, like any app, and remotely, when the app starts, so we can fix a problem or add content without waiting for a new store release. Our privacy policy describes the information sent during this check.

9. Intellectual property and use of the app

The app and its content, including the demo videos, the exercise catalog, the programs, texts, images and logos, are protected by intellectual property law. You agree not to:

use the app in an unlawful or fraudulent way;
copy, modify or distribute the app or its content without permission.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we can't be held liable for damage resulting from:

using the app or being unable to use it;
data loss, in particular of data that hadn't been backed up;
injuries or health problems related to training;
someone else accessing your phone or your export files.

11. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date at the top.
